Meet Patty Ashen, owner of Shanghai Salon. Patty is a third generation Newport Beach resident who has been in the beauty industry for 40+ years locally. Her father, mother, brothers, sisters and two sons all graduated from Newport Harbor High school. She brings a strong tradition of supporting and building the local community through her business, schools and helping her clients.

Patty started to grow her business as a young adult and made a pivotal move when she started working with Davines in 1995. The education, experience and international exposure to the beauty industry that Davines provided her was invaluable. They showed her what it takes to be a leader and how to do things right. From this experience, Patty continues to be associated with Davines to this day, inspiring her to open Shanghai in 2003. At the time, Shanghai was the first Davines multi-space in the USA.

Shanghai, the City, has a futuristic frame of mind. Inspired by a place that has defined all that is modern, and a balance for tradition, for a 100+ years. At Shanghai Salon, they feature products with incredible science and natural beauty while delivering progressive education from around the world to our stylists.

In addition to all of this, Patty has the pleasure of working with some of the most talented hairdressers in the community. They work together as a team and have always created a family atmosphere. Many of Patty’s clients have been with her from the start of her journey. They have gone through ups and downs together for almost 4 decades and it is their love and support that make Shanghai what it is today.
